E-Books and More!

General Info:

The Library subscribes to digital apps that you can download to your device or read on your desktop from a web browser. For each service, you will create an account with an email address and your library card number.

You will be asked to provide your library card number (the full number on the back of your card, with no spaces), and your library pin number (the last four digits of your library card). If your pin number is not working, you can reset it from your library account. If you do not receive an email back to reset your pin, please email us at social@sgpl.org or send us a message on Facebook Messenger.

Items return automatically with no late fees.

You will have to place items on hold if they are checked out, just like normal books.

libby ebook appLibby

*We suggest starting with Libby if you are brand new to digital apps!*

Libby has e-books, e-audiobooks, and magazines that can be checked out for up to 3 weeks and they return automatically on the due date. You can use the app's filter feature to only show you books that are available right now to check out, which allows you to have a better browsing experience. Our subscription is shared with area libraries and is known as "eMediaLibrary".

Download the app from the app store on your device, or read directly from a web browser

Notes from Librarian:

Boundless (eRead Illinois)

Boundless (formerly the Axis360 app) provides e-books and e-audiobooks for all ages in a consortium called eRead Illinois. Features include eBooks and audio access, streaming videos, PDF activities, video books, customizable reading programs, and more. Titles can be checked out for 2 weeks.

Boundless makes it easy for the whole family to get involved in reading. Once you download the app or use the web version, you can create user profiles within your account. Sign up all members of your family with teen and kid friendly experiences.

The My Shelf feature is a personalized page for all of your checkouts. You can also view specially curated carousels and content based on your reading activities and interests. With insights, goals and badges, you can set personal reading goals, track your progress and earn badges.

The app is available to download through the app store on your device (search for "Boundless") or you can visit the website in your web browser. For more information, visit this link.

Comics PlusComics Plus (Library Pass app)

Comics Plus provides e-book comic books and graphic novels for all ages! Log in with your library card number and PIN to gain instant access to thousands of Manga, Comic Books and Graphic Novels! The app is available to download through the app store on your device or you can visit the Comics Plus website in your web browser.

iPhone/iPad      Android

Hooplahoopla

This app is different from other apps because:

1.)  There is no waiting! Everything you see is available for checkout immediately.

2.) You only get 5 checkouts per month. Your borrows will reset on the 1st of each calendar month. We recommend using the 'favorites' heart icon to save titles you are interested in checking out.

3.) This app provides more than e-books and e-audiobooks. You'll also find graphic novels/comic books, music albums, tv shows, and movies!

To access the system on your mobile device, you will need to visit hoopladigital.com or download the FREE hoopla digital app from the App Store on your Android or IOS device. This app does not work for the Kindle Paperwhite.

biblioboardBiblioBoard

All of these platforms provide unique curations from history to children's learning materials to indie published titles. Explore now!
