1000 Books Before Kindergarten
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
SGPL challenges you to read 1000 books (or let's be real here: the same book 1000 times) with your child before Kindergarten!
One thousand books? That seems like way too many, right? Not at all. You got this. It doesn't matter if your child is three years, or just three months - there's no better time to start than now! Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. Take that motivation, open one book, and get started. And remember, 1000 is just a number. The goal is to work reading aloud into your regular routine, and let the magic of stories do the rest.
Ready to begin? You can pick up your first reading log at the Children's desk in the library, or track your child's reading online using Beanstack.*
- 100 Books: For every 100 books you and your child read, they will get a sticker!
- 500 Books: Pick out a free book!
- 1000 Books: Take a special picture to display on our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten bulletin board (or to keep, if you like).
